I spent yesterday (Friday) familiarizing myself with this crazy place called Venice. By the time Liv arrived at 4:30, I had at least figured out how to get to San Marco (St. Mark’s Basilica) and to the place with the least expensive Prosecco. Additionally, I am about 90% certain that we won’t get lost on our way to the train station tomorrow. Beyond that, I make no promises.
We are leaving shortly for a two-hour tour, including St. Mark’s. From what I saw yesterday, it is palatial and awe-inspiring. The entire square is rather touristy, but it does not dissuade from the feeling of rich history. It’s also incredibly HOT there – no cover and blistering sun.
My hair is tied up to the high heavens, my knees and shoulders are covered (no entry if not), and I am coffee-d up and ready to go.
Now if only my girl would get out of bed:)
A gondola ride awaits us tonight, along with her restaurant choice for dinner!
